Hillsborough County Fire Rescue leading task force in Pinellas County for Helene recovery efforts

The deployment is expected to last up to 14 days, according to fire rescue.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will help lead Florida Task Force 3 into Pinellas County to help with recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

The task force will primarily focus on areas in Treasure Island and the intercoastal, fire rescue said in a news release. The task force is reportedly comprised of specially trained firefighters and paramedics from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the St. Petersburg Fire Department and Tampa Fire Rescue.

The deployment is expected to last up to 14 days.

Task Force 3 will have 41 trained members help with water rescues and hazardous material cleanup while using live search canines for recovery efforts in narrow areas.

Physicians and engineers will also be supporting recovery efforts with the task force in Pinellas County. That convoy reportedly has 12 vehicles with specialized equipment essential for rescue missions.
