LARGO, Fla. — Pinellas County has lifted the boil water notice for the southern barrier islands after Hurricane Helene, officials said during Thursday's press conference in Largo.
Pinellas County Utilities Director Jeremy Waugh said the notice was lifted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday for St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Tierra Verde.
"Potable water service has been restored to the southern barrier islands cities," Waugh said.
The director added that there are still some parts of the Sunset Beach area of Treasure Island that might have individual water services turned off due to the amount of sand and debris that's still piled along the right of way and covering water meter valves.
"For areas where potable water has been restored, your water pressure may not be as high as you're accustomed to," Waugh said.
Pinellas County Utilities is advising residents in the southern barrier islands to be mindful of the amount of water they are using and to not use excessive water from appliances like dishwashers, laundry machines and more.
Waugh said that the company is also working to repair the Bulf Beach Water Booster Station, which was significantly damaged from Helene's flooding.
"Pinellas County Utilities customers will continue to be notified through our text and email alerts of any significant updates to the water system," Waugh said. "We are continuing to ask customers to conserve water across our entire service area, not just the beaches."
