LARGO, Fla. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center at Largo Public Library starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday to help residents affected by Hurricane Helene.

It will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The center will serve as a centralized location for people searching for disaster recovery services and information. There will also be access to computers and phones.

While there, people can get information, guidance and application assistance for applying to federal disaster programs, like FEMA grants and low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration. Staff can also help in completing the necessary paperwork and check the status of any pending applications, officials said.

Translation services will be available for people with limited English proficiency along with accommodations for those with disabilities

The center will also have informational materials to help explain the recovery process and available resources. Officials recommend bringing a form of identification, proof of residence, insurance information and any documents relating to disaster-related losses to help with any application process and assistance.

Residents can register for FEMA assistance online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, via the FEMA app or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
