FORT MYERS, Fla — Florida Power and Light restored power for 1.6 million customers as of 6 a.m. Sunday morning, according to a spokesperson.
During a news conference Sunday morning, the spokesperson said that the restoration translated into 75 percent of their customers across the state having their power back on.
"We're working very hard, around the clock. We have a workforce of over 21,000 men and women from across the United States," the spokesperson said.
He estimated that by the end of the day on Oct. 9, at least 95 percent of their customers will have power restored.
The spokesperson said currently all of the critical infrastructures such as hospitals have had power fully restored.

Ian made landfall as a Category 4 storm around 3:05 p.m. Wednesday along the southwestern coast of Florida near Cayo Costa, the NHC said. It had maximum sustained winds of 150 mph, with even higher gusts.
At 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, Ian made a second Florida landfall — a mainland landfall — south of Punta Gorda as a Category 4 storm packing 145-mph winds.
