The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for the next two nights in Citrus and Hernando counties.
Freezing temperatures are forecast Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and then again Wednesday night.
A freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures – 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower – are possible.
Forecasters expect the temperatures in Citrus and Hernando counties to be around 31 to 32 degrees. It is expected to last about two to three hours.
The NWS recommends taking “protective actions for crops and sensitive vegetation.”
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office said the Salvation Army is opening a cold weather shelter Tuesday at 712 South School Avenue in Lecanto. The shelter will open 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone needing more information can call the Salvation Army at (352)513-4960.
