TAMPA, Fla. — As people plan their travel for the upcoming holiday season, Tampa International Airport was ranked among the best large airports for customer satisfaction.

A new study from J.D. Power, a consumer intelligence company, ranked the airport second out of 28 other large airports. John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California took the number one spot, beating out TPA by just two points.

Through its study, J.D. Power ranked airports across the United States in three separate mega, large and medium categories for customer satisfaction. Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport took the top spot in the mega category while Indianapolis International Airport found itself at the top in the medium category.

Officials with J.D. Power said they considered these rankings as airports across the U.S. continue to see larger and larger volumes of passengers passing through them.

"... such huge volumes of passengers—and all the traffic and rapidly rising prices that come along with them—has not stopped passengers from enjoying their time in airports, evidenced by this year’s overall airport satisfaction scores," officials stated in the report.

In addition, Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality and retail at J.D. Power, said the growing demand for air travel has not slowed down in America, despite the rising cost of flights, ground travel, hotel rooms and other factors.

"Most travelers are still enjoying the experience. However, we are starting to see a breaking point in consumer spending, with average spend per person in the terminal declining significantly from a year ago," Taylor stated.
