CLEARWATER, Fla. — Living where people vacation has its perks. Clearwater Beach is often awarded among the top in the country for its white sand and sparkling seas.
According to Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, the vacation hot spot is a huge economic driver for Pinellas County, drawing in an estimated 14.9 million of travelers in 2021 alone.
That’s part of the reason why the JW Marriott Brand decided to make its mark in the sand by opening its newest hotel on Clearwater Beach this summer. The JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort opened in May.
General Manager Mike Manzari says the locals are loving the variety of options the resort offers close to home.
“We've been received so well by the locals,” Manzari said. “When you consider our location in Clearwater Beach, really it's I think the premier spot. It's exclusive. It's quiet yet it's close to all the other options that people may want to enjoy when it comes to tourist activities.”
Staycations are becoming increasingly popular across Florida and Tampa Bay as people are choosing to counter the costs of airfare, delayed flights, wait times and other travel headaches.
Pinellas County resident Dan Papa says there’s no need to go far to have fun.
“Definitely this place,” Papa said. "It's brand new. You’ve got the nice white sand, blue water, what else can you ask for in a vacation.”
The Clearwater Beach JW Marriott offers a rooftop pool and restaurant with epic views, along with a private beach and a world-class spa for those looking for total relaxation. Guests can also take advantage of water sports and activities during their stay. For families, there are even options for kids.
The kids club offers STEM learning activities, an art center, and an open play area allowing parents to have their own time.
“We have cooking classes for the kids. Make your own cookies, decorating your own cookies. We have the ability to really make your own jewelry,” Manzari said. “It really helps on the pocketbook, but you're able to enjoy a luxury experience. Labor Day it's a great way to end the summer and unplug while the kids get back into school and come out refreshed and partying.
