Norwegian Cruise Line pulls ship from Eastern Mediterranean

Norwegian Cruise Line is pulling a ship from the Eastern Mediterranean for the upcoming winter -- the latest sign that cruise lines are struggling in the region.

announced the cancellationof winter cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean. Royal Caribbean's 3,114-passenger Navigator of the Seas, which was scheduled to sail in the region through the winter, instead will head to the Caribbean.Norwegian says customers with bookings on the canceled Norwegian Jade sailings can transfer to one of four 10-night Eastern Mediterranean or 11-night Mediterranean and Holy Land sailings on the ship that it still will operate between Oct. 15 and Nov. 16, 2011, or the same itineraries departing between Oct. 20, 2012 and April 17, 2013.Customers also have the option of transferring to any other sailing in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet between now and Dec. 31, 2012.The line says the Norwegian Jade's 2012 fall and winter deployment scheduled remains as scheduled.The news of the Norwegian Jade cancellations wasfirst reportedFriday by CruiseCritic.com.Cruise Loggers, share your thoughts below./span>/>
