ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — People living in the Tampa Bay area will soon be able to fly to Akron, Ohio for as little as $59.
Low-cost airline Allegiant is adding new nonstop routes from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport to Akron-Canton Airport beginning March 4, 2022.
Flights will operate twice weekly and offer travelers the convenience of traveling through a smaller airport without the hassle of layovers or connections.
The new route is part of the airline's effort to connect more travelers to warmer destinations like the Tampa Bay area. In August, Allegiant announced new flights to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, at fares as low as $49.
“St. Pete-Clearwater is one of the most popular destinations in Allegiant’s network,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and network planning. “This new route will give our customers in Northeast Ohio an affordable, convenient travel option for their vacations to one of the hottest markets in Florida.”
If you can't make it to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, Allegiant is also offering flights to Akron out of:
- Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport beginning March 3, 2022
- Punta Gorda Airport beginning March 2, 2022
