CLEARWATER, Fla. – An Allegiant Air plane will pay homage to Winter, the rescued dolphin who calls Clearwater Marine Aquarium home after being caught in a crab trap rope and losing her tail.
On Monday, the airliner introduced new dolphin-themed livery on an Airbus A320 aircraft to mark its partnership with the CMA.
“Allegiant could not be more proud to be the official U.S. airline of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium,” said Allegiant Chief Marketing Officer Scott DeAngelo in a news release. “This plane represents our ongoing commitment to support tourism to the Tampa Bay area with nonstop, affordable flights.”
Despite Winter's disability, she has adapted and thrived following the innovative development of a prosthetic tail. Winter's story was featured in the films "Dolphin Tale" and "Dolphin Tale 2."
Allegiant is the official airline of the CMA.
