CLEARWATER, Fla. — The northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 19 at Riviera Drive have reopened to traffic following a reported gas leak.
Crews were dispatched to the area just after 9 a.m. Friday to respond to the leak that appeared to be in a construction area. A few homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution, Clearwater Police Department spokesperson Rob Shaw said.
Traffic in the northbound lanes was at a standstill while southbound traffic was slow-going, cameras showed. Traffic was backed up for about an hour.
It's not yet known what caused the gas leak.
