Traffic alerts across Tampa Bay: Wednesday, Dec. 18

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — We know getting to where you need to go is a top priority and traffic can quickly build across the Tampa Bay region at a moment's notice. 

Here at 10 Tampa Bay, we're working to make sure you can get to work, school or wherever you need to be on time. 

Here are the traffic alerts we're seeing across the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday, Dec. 18

  • 4:45 p.m. Traffic is building on the Howard Frankland Bridge heading into Tampa due to a crash. Three lanes of I-275 N are blocked, with traffic getting by slowly in one lane.

  • 9 a.m.: A hit-and-run crash on the northbound Howard Frankland Bridge is causing delays.
  • 9 a.m.: A crash on northbound I-275 on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is causing delays. Drivers should use caution or find another route.  
  • 8:20 a.m.: A crash involving multiple vehicles blocked all lanes for several hours on I-75 South before State Route 56 in Pasco County. This happened near the 276-milepost. Florida Highway Patrol says drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and all southbound traffic was being diverted to State Route 54 at Exit 279. The road reopened to traffic around 10:40 a.m. 
  • 7:30 a.m.: The Cortez Bridge at Anna Maria Island is closed after an early morning crash, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook. Both east and westbound lanes are shut down from 127th Street to Gulf Drive N.
