TAMPA, Fla. — Several Florida cities have been ranked as the most congested in the United States, according to the 2018 TomTom Traffic Index.
The index calculates and presents congestion information for 403 cities across 56 countries. In the U.S., 80 cities are listed.
According to the index, Los Angeles ranks No. 1 for congestion. Its world ranking is 24.
Miami ranks sixth for congestion in the U.S. and 101st worldwide. The index says Miami's congestion level is 30 percent but decreased by one percent in 2018.
Tampa ranks 20th for congestion in the U.S. and 207th worldwide. Clicking on the specific city gives more details about Tampa's worst day for congestion in 2018 (Dec. 19) and best day (Dec. 25).
The index said Tampa's congestion level is 23 percent and saw no change from in 2017 ranking.
Worldwide, Mumbai, India, ranks highest for traffic congestion. The top nine cities in the world have congestion of at least 50 percent.
