ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman is receiving treatment at the hospital following a crash involving a street trolley and several cars Wednesday morning near downtown St. Pete.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Central Avenue at 16th Street.
Police say a minivan went through a red light at Central Avenue while driving south on 16th Street North, leading to a westbound Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority trolley hitting the left side of the van.
The minivan driver, who is in her 70s, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to first responders. As of Wednesday evening, she remained at the hospital in critical condition.
The block was temporarily shut down while police and firefighters worked at the scene.
