Florida Highway Patrol says there are injuries, but did not give details on how many people were involved.

LAKE ALFRED, Fla. — A crash involving a semi-truck blocked all eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 in Polk County for hours Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 8:43 a.m. on I-4 westbound in Lake Alfred, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the crash reportedly involved an SUV and a semi-truck. Deputies said they believe the crash happened on the westbound side, but the semi traveled across onto the eastbound side after the crash.

Just after 11:30 a.m., I-4 eastbound lanes opened hours after being completely blocked by the crash; westbound lanes are still slowgoing after reports of debris on the road.

Troopers say there are injuries but did not give details on how many people were involved.

Traffic was being diverted at State Road 559, the sheriff's office said.
