TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough drivers should expect overnight delays beginning this Friday at the Selmon West Extension bridge over Gandy Boulevard near Manhattan Avenue, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) announced in a news release.

THEA crews will reportedly be working on construction for the bridge between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting this Friday, Aug. 16 through Tuesday, Aug, 20. Those crews will use the median on Gandy Boulevard to bring materials to the bridge, as most of the work will take place inside the structure, THEA said.

As a result, a safety vehicle will block traffic from traveling on and under the bridge for up to fifteen minutes at a time during the construction period, according to THEA. Crews are expected to perform up to three rolling closures a night.

Residents with questions about this construction project can call THEA at (813) 272-670 ext. 211 or email keisha.boyd@tampa-xway.com.
