TAMPA, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is warning drivers of a temporary nightly closure this week in Tampa.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Nebraska Avenue between Palm Avenue and Columbus Drive will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting. FDOT said crews will be performing overhead construction as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange Safety and Operational Improvements project.

For those driving northbound, FDOT suggests going around the work zone by turning east onto Palm Avenue, north onto Nuccio Parkway, proceeding north on 15th Street and west onto 21st Avenue.

Anyone traveling southbound on Nebraska Avenue can detour by turning east onto Columbus Drive, south onto Avenida República de Cuba, proceeding south on Nuccio Parkway and west onto Palm Avenue.

FDOT said there will be message boards and signs to assist drivers traveling through the area.
