TAMPA, Fla. — Drivers during late-night hours on Nebraska Avenue in Tampa will need to find new routes for a few days due to roadwork.

Starting Monday, The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Nebraska Avenue will close between Palm Avenue and Columbus Drive, weather permitting, until Thursday.

FDOT says drivers on northbound Nebraska Avenue can take a detour by turning east onto Palm Avenue, north onto Nuccio Parkway, north on 15th Street and then west onto 21st Avenue.

For those driving southbound, FDOT suggests going east onto Columbus Drive, south onto Avenida República de Cuba, south on Nuccio Parkway and then west onto Palm Avenue.

The closures are apart of the organization's Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project, which is expected to be complete in 2027.

FDOT assures drivers electronic message boards and other signage will be in place to help drivers traveling in the area.

Drivers are asked to use caution while going through each work zone and to be aware of construction workers.
