TAMPA, Fla. — A man is dead after a tractor-trailer crashed into his car overnight on Interstate 4, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just after 1 a.m. on I-4 near the Hillsborough Avenue exit.
Troopers say a 31-year-old man was driving a sedan westbound on I-4 approaching U.S. 301 in the outside lane. According to FHP, the man was driving "at a very low speed" when a 42-year-old man driving a tractor-trailer crashed into his car from behind.
Both cars landed in the inside shoulder, where the tractor-trailer overturned.
The sedan driver was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
The crash caused delays for morning commuters on I-4 for several hours but has since been cleared.
