WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A 46-year-old man is dead after a crash between a car and a pickup truck Friday night in Winter Haven, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The crash reportedly happened around 6 p.m. on Dundee Road near Overlook Drive. Deputies said the man, driving a 2014 Honda CRV, was looking to turn left onto Overlook while a 28-year-old man from Lake Wales in a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 truck was heading east on Dundee.
The 46-year-old entered the truck driver's path before he was struck and propelled 150 feet east, according to the sheriff's office.
Both drivers were sent to the hospital, where the 46-year-old died from his injuries. The pickup truck driver was only treated for minor injuries and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, deputies said.
The crash reportedly closed the eastbound lanes of Dundee Road for around four hours Friday night. The sheriff's office said that the investigation is ongoing.
