LAKELAND, Fla. — Traffic was at a near standstill Monday morning on Interstate 4 East in Polk County following an early morning deadly crash, the Florida Department of Transportation reported.
The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in Lakeland on I-4 near State Road 33, at Exit 38. FDOT reported two right lanes were blocked.
Traffic cameras showed a semi-truck off on the shoulder of the road. Some cars were still able to take the exit despite the crash. Some movement from cars was seen on traffic cameras, but for hours traffic was still barely moving.
All lanes have since reopened.
There has been no word yet on what caused the crash or the extent of any injuries. However, Florida Highway Patrol does list this crash as deadly.
