TAMPA, Fla. — Kennedy Boulevard and Willow Avenu are closed this week for railroad repair work, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The FDOT and CSX Railroad Transportation closed the Kennedy Boulevard and Willow Avenue intersection beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 7, according to a news release.
The closure will last about five days, weather permitting, the release said. The roads will be closed during all hours until construction is over.
FDOT has posted electronic message boards and detour signs to assist drivers traveling on Kennedy through the intersection. Those traveling in the area should anticipate heavier traffic on all surrounding roads, according to a news release.
The CSX railway system runs through Tampa to Lakeland and surrounding areas. A complete map can be found here.
Detour information
Drivers traveling westbound on Kennedy Boulevard will turn south onto Hyde Park Avenue, west onto Cleveland Street, north onto Howard Avenue and proceed north toward Kennedy Boulevard.
Eastbound motorists traveling along Kennedy Boulevard will have to turn south onto Armenia Ave, east onto Platt Street, north onto Plant Avenue and proceed north toward Kennedy Boulevard.
