Troopers say a passenger was killed after the driver lost control of the car and flipped it.

SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says a man is dead and another is seriously injured after a Friday morning crash on Interstate 75.

The crash happened around 7:10 a.m. near Big Bend Road in Sun City Center.

Troopers say a 31-year-old man was driving southbound in the inside lane of the interstate when he lost control for an unknown reason, causing the car to flip multiple times.

A passenger was ejected from the car and died from his injuries, FHP says. The driver was seriously injured, and three other passengers suffered minor injuries.

All southbound lanes of I-75 were shut down at Gibsonton Drive.

Traffic remains backed up on I-75 from State Road 674 to beyond Big Bend Road. Drivers can use US-41 or US-301 as alternate routes.
