TAMPA, Fla. — Heads up, drivers. An exit ramp of Interstate 275 in Tampa will be closed for the next several nights for construction.
The Florida Department of Transportation will be shutting down the I-275 southbound ramp to Jefferson Street, Exit 45A, between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. from Monday, Feb. 20, through Wednesday, Feb. 22.
It's part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange Improvement Plan to increase safety and ease traffic at the I-275/I-4 interchange.
Improvements include widening several single-lane exit ramps to two lanes and shifting certain exits to more access roads in downtown Tampa.
While preliminary construction is beginning this spring, more significant work is expected to begin in summer 2023. The $223.5 million project is expected to be completed by 2027.
