TAMPA, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol closed the northbound lanes of U.S. 301 Tuesday morning after a truck spilled pounds of gravel onto the roadway.
Troopers say a Spring Hill man in a tractor-trailer was driving eastbound on Fowler Avenue and tried to turn north on US 301 when the truck turned over, spilling pounds of gravel and diesel, according to an FHP news release.
FHP said the truck was going too fast to turn safely, causing the spill. Troopers closed both lanes of U.S. 301 while crews worked to clean the mess.
The truck’s driver suffered minor injuries from the mishap.
