APOLLO BEACH, Florida -- Motorists dealt with delays on northbound I-75 in the Apollo Beach area Tuesday afternoon after a tractor trailer hauling a mobile home lost part of its load causing a 5-car accident.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say when the tractor trailer got near Big Bend Road, pieces of the mobile home flew off and onto the roadway.

Troopers say one car swerved to avoid the debris and hit another vehicle and a third vehicle. The first vehicle then continued onto the outside shoulder and hit a tree. After impact, the third vehicle overturned onto its roof in the middle of I-75 and hit a fourth vehicle.

A fifth vehicle was hit by debris from the mobile home.

Troopers say the tractor trailer kept driving.

Two people in the vehicle that flipped, along with the driver from the first vehicle, were all taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

As of 2:20 p.m., all lanes are back open with the exception of the outside lane which is still closed. Drivers can bypass the crash by using Hwy 41 or Hwy 301 and re-enter I-75 at Gibsonton Drive.
