TAMPA, Fla. — A person is in custody following a four-car crash Tuesday morning along North Dale Mabry Highway that shut down several lanes near the Interstate 275 overpass in Midtown.
Sky 10 flew over the scene, which showed most lanes blocked by law enforcement and first responders. The lanes reopened around 8 a.m.
The Tampa Police Department said the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. and that no one was seriously injured. The person in custody caused the crash and tried to run off before police caught them, TPD said.
Video from Sky 10 shows a silver sedan badly damaged on both the front and rear sides, with the front of the car pointed toward the opposite direction of oncoming traffic.
Sky 10 video captured a dog running through nearby plaza parking lots and into oncoming traffic. TPD said the dog belonged to the person taken into custody, and officers were working to get the dog to safety.
WARNING: The video below shows the dog running through oncoming traffic. The dog was unharmed, but the video may be tough to watch.
