TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash involving one of the agency's patrol cars on U.S. Highway 19, FHP said in a news release.

The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. Saturday near Tookes Road in Tarpon Springs, according to FHP. A sedan driven by a 34-year-old St. Petersburg man was reportedly traveling north, while the 27-year-old trooper was stopped in a median near Parkview Boulevard monitoring traffic.

Both the man and the trooper were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to FHP.

In a Facebook post, the Tarpon Springs Police Department said two southbound lanes and one northbound lanes will remain closed as troopers investigate the crash.
