PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A 50-year-old man from Brooksville was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash involving five vehicles Wednesday morning on I-75 in Pasco County.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said in a news release. Troopers said a car and a semi-truck were traveling southbound on I-75 while a car, a pickup truck and another semi-truck were stopped in traffic nearby.
The car traveling south changed lanes into the path of the first semi-truck before being hit. That impact forced the car to strike one of the stopped vehicles before the semi-truck continued forward, striking the pickup and the other semi-truck in successive order, according to troopers.
The Brooksville man was driving the pickup truck before being hit by the semi. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to the agency.
Meanwhile, all other drivers involved in the crash suffered no injuries. The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-75 for hours before reopening around 11:19 a.m.
