All lanes of Courtney Campbell Causeway reopened following serious crash

Access to the causeway from both the Hillsborough and Pinellas county sides was closed for several hours.

TAMPA, Fla. — After several hours of being shut down, the Courtney Campbell Causeway is back open following a serious crash, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at 7740 W Courtney Campbell Causeway

The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, police say. Tampa Police said the motorcyclist is currently listed in critical condition.

Police said access to the Courtney Campbell Causeway from both the Hillsborough and Pinellas county sides was closed for several hours while the crash was being investigated.

That means it was closed eastbound from the Clearwater entrance and westbound at Ben T. Davis.

Drivers needing to travel between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties were advised to use alternate routes such as the Howard Frankland Bridge and Gandy Bridge.
