CLEARWATER, Fla. — A bicyclist is being treated for potentially life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car Saturday night in Clearwater, the Clearwater Police Department said in a news release.
Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the crash just after 9 p.m., which occurred on Court Street just west of Missouri Avenue, according to the department.
Officers said the eastbound lanes of Court Street are closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Missouri Avenue. One westbound lane is also closed, the department added.
The bicyclist was reportedly crossing the street before he was hit. He wasn't crossing at a crosswalk or at an intersection, the department said.
The driver of the car stopped and is cooperating with police. Drivers in the area are being asked to find alternate routes.
