MIAMI — Two fraternal twin children died after they were found unresponsive in a van on the northbound Interstate 95 ramp to the Turnpike Extension, according to media outlets.

The children were reportedly 3-years-old, a boy and a girl.

According to CBS Miami, Miami-Dade Police received a call around 2 a.m. Friday about a child who was unresponsive in the van. Sometime later, they received a call about a second, unresponsive child.

"The juveniles that were located in the backseat of the vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital where, despite medical efforts, they were pronounced deceased," Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin told the outlet.

Those twins were identified as Milendhet and Milendhere G. Napoleon-Cadet.

In a report from NBC 6 South Florida, when police arrived they saw a woman, confirmed to be the driver of the vehicle, jump off the ramp onto the Tri-Rail tracks. She was later identified as the twins' mother, Shirlene Napoleon Alcime. The report states police are investigating this as a possible suicide attempt.

CBS Miami spoke to her husband, Milson Cadet, after she was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital where she was still listed in critical condition on Sunday.

"I went to work at 5 a.m. Thursday and then I came back home. I didn't see my wife at home (or) the kids," Cadet told CBS Miami. "We have an office. I checked at the office. Around (midnight) I didn't see her at the office. I started calling her on the phone. She never picked up."

NBC 6 South Florida reports investigators are still working on a death investigation. The manner and cause of death will be determined by an autopsy from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner.
