SpaceX successfully launches 52 more Starlink satellites into orbit

Liftoff was pushed back to 10:14 p.m. on Tuesday from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX successfully launched another round of Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit.

The Falcon 9 rocket instantaneously launch 52 satellites into space. Citing upper level winds, liftoff was pushed back until 10:14 p.m. ET on Tuesday from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. This marks the 135th landing of the orbital class rocket.

The launch was initially planned for 6:57 p.m. ET.

SpaceX's Starlink is the constellation of networked satellites that aim to provide internet services to those in remote areas and, eventually, provide reliable and affordable internet across the globe, according to the Kennedy Space Center website.

This launch marks the 54th mission for the Starlink internet constellation from the space center, marking more than 3,000 satellites launched since the first flights started in 2019, Florida Today reports.

After the satellite launch, the Falcon 9's first stage will make its way back into Earth's atmosphere and make an autonomous landing on the "A Shortfall of Gravitas" drone ship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Falcon 9 is the world’s first orbital class reusable rocket, according to SpaceX. Reusability allows the company to refly the most expensive parts of the rocket, which in turn drives down the cost of space access, the website explains.

After the rocket launch planned for Tuesday, we won't see another launch until the end of August when Artemis 1 heads to space.

10 Tampa Bay will stream the launch live on Facebook and Youtube.
