Tampa football well represented at Under Armour camp in Bradenton

Seven Tampa area football players were handpicked to participate in Under Armour's Future 50 camp at IMG Academy this weekend.

BRADENTON, Fla. — IMG Academy hosts Under Armour’s Future 50 football camp this weekend, featuring the nation’s best players at the prep level. With nearly half of the participants from Florida, including seven from Tampa, it's a glowing review of football in the Sunshine State.

Camp officials and directors handpicked participants based on their on-field skills and desire to be great.

"The talent in Florida is just unmatched," said Jesuit quarterback Will Griffin.

Entering his junior year, Griffin is one of the few players at the Future 50 camp ranked in the top 100 of ESPN's Jr. 300 rankings. He's already committed to playing collegiately with the Florida Gators but feels he still has something to prove this weekend.

"I'm here to show my talents. How much I've grown mentally and physically [and] my ability to drive the ball down the field," he said.

On the girls' side of the camp, three Alonso flag football players are present. That includes rising senior Raya Deane who led the Ravens to the state championship game last season.

"I feel like coming out here with the opportunity is great to represent Tampa," she said. "It's great to just drive a couple minutes to represent where I'm from."

Robinson's powerhouse program is also represented by wide receiver Jasmyn Mitchner who helped the Knights win an eighth consecutive state title. She feels honored to be selected for this camp as 2024 is only her second year playing football.

"[Football] has become a really big part of my life. I've always played soccer growing up so playing this has just been really great," she said.

All camp participants will participate in drills, skills training and a flag football tournament this weekend.
