DALLAS — The domestic violence investigation surrounding Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel includes video from surveillance cameras, the Dallas Police Department said Saturday.
According to ESPN, which cited a person familiar with the investigation, the footage is from Hotel ZaZa in Dallas where Colleen Crowley, Manziel's ex-girlfriend, said the alleged assault began.
Police spokesman Maj. Midge Boyle said Saturday that investigators have reviewed medical records provided by Crowley. She told police Manziel hit her and dragged her into a car Jan. 30.
In an affidavit, Crowley said she and Manziel had a confrontation in his hotel room at about 1:45 a.m. Crowley said she tried leave, but Manziel restrained her and led her down to the valet. She said the valet disregarded her pleas for help. Dallas police have the footage of this encounter, along with other surveillance, according to ESPN.
"As of today, there has been no determination as to what type of charge, if any, will be filed against Mr. Manziel," Boyle said.
Manziel hasn't been charged, but a judge has issued Crowley a protection order against him.
Police haven't interviewed Manziel, but spoke to other several witnesses. Boyle says police want to have their strongest case against Manziel before speaking to him. They hope to finish the investigation "as soon as possible," according to Boyle.
A Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M, Manziel has had several incidents of trouble in the NFL. The Browns have indicated they will release him next month.
