TAMPA, Fla. — With the Paris Olympics officially over, it's time to count how many medals athletes with ties to the Sunshine State are taking home.
The Florida athlete who won the most medals was swimmer Caeleb Dressel, who also is an alumnus of the University of Florida. He won two gold and one silver this year to add to his collection of seven medals he won in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The United States as a whole dominated, winning the most Olympic medals throughout the Games with 126 total. The gold count was tied with China, with each country having 40gold medals.
