Limited edition 2024 Gasparilla jerseys unveiled by Tampa Bay Lightning

The limited-edition, pirate-themed Tampa Bay Lightning jersey will go on sale Thursday, Jan. 18.

TAMPA, Fla. — The countdown is on for the 2024 Gasparilla Parade of Pirates in Tampa.

As pirates across the region prepare for the annual festivities, so too are the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team announced Tuesday that a limited edition Gasparilla jersey will go on sale Thursday.

Images released by the Lightning show the team's iconic logo within a pirate-themed skull and swords. Another patch shows the Lightning's alternate logo within a ship's steering wheel, also known as the helm.

The jerseys, according to the online store's website, will not be worn on the ice by players and were "created as a fashion jersey exclusively for retail sale." There will be 1,904 jerseys produced, commemorating the first year Gasparilla was celebrated in Tampa.

So, how much booty will one pirate need to hook the one-of-a-kind jersey?

The team's store says the retail price of the jersey will be $229.99 with $30 of each jersey sold going toward Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and its "After Gasparilla Cleanup!"

If you don't want to dig into your treasure chest for the jersey, the team store showcases a large number of other items for sale dawning the pirate-themed Lightning logo, including a commemorative hockey puck, a flag, a blanket, T-shirts, sweatshirts and more.

The 2024 Gasparilla Parade of Pirates gets underway on Jan. 27. The Children's Gasparilla Parade is this Saturday.

Earlier this week, Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla announced that Tampa native and stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer will serve as the grand marshal for the Parade of Pirates. He'll be joined by a 101-year-old World War II hero, US Army veteran "Buffalo Soldier" Roy J. Caldwood.
