Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman wins NHL’s Norris Trophy

The Norris Trophy is given to the NHL's top defenseman.

The NHL honored Victor Hedman with the 2017-2018 Norris Trophy on Wednesday night.

The trophy is given to the NHL's top defenseman.

Hedman, 27, became the first Lightning player to win the Norris Trophy. He finished the regular season with 17 goals and 46 assists in 77 games.

The Lightning had finalists for two other major awards.

Andrei Vasilvskiy finished third in the voting for the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie. The award went to Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.

Steve Yzerman was a finalist for general manager of the year. However, that award went to the Vegas Golden Knights' George McPhee.

Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award: Darcy Haugan, Humboldt Broncos coach

Hart Trophy: Taylor Hall, New Jersey Devils
