TAMPA, Fla. — Every week, the 10 Tampa Bay team will go one-on-one with a Buccaneers player, and in our debut segment of "The One Buc," sports director Evan Closky talks with offensive lineman Cody Mauch.
The second-year guard out of North Dakota State had a busy offseason. Not only did he propose to his longtime girlfriend, but he has also made a concerted effort to put on more weight entering the 2024 season.
When it comes to the proposal, he recruited his grandmother as a decoy for his master plan. He also plans to have a wedding of around 600 people in Fargo, North Dakota.
He says the transition to Tampa has been "been great." Since his family lives in North Dakota, he says plenty of them make the travel for games during the winter.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the worst rushing attacks in 2023, but after the first two preseason games, the team ranks No. 4 in NFL in rushing yards per game. With another year of development, along with a new offensive coordinator, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic the team will perform much better in this category.
"The One Buc" will air every 5 p.m. Thursday and 11 p.m. Saturday. The segment will also be posted on 10 Tampa Bay's YouTube channel.
Also, "The Blitz," a Buccaneers weekly preview show will make its return on Sept. 1. Those episodes will air on 10 Tampa Bay+ every Saturday as well as our 10 Tampa Bay YouTube channel.
