TAMPA, Fla. — Two days ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' home opener against the Washington Commanders, the Bucs will hold the first "Raise the Flags" event Friday at Sparkman Wharf to ring in the new NFL season.
The free event starts at 6 p.m. Friday night, organizers said in a Facebook post. Those looking to get pumped for the season can enjoy a live DJ, appearances by Bucs cheerleaders and team mascot Captain Fear, themed street games and free Bucs flags and giveaways.
When does the game start?
After defeating the Miami Dolphins in their preseason finale, the Bucs will kick off their season against the Washington Commanders this Sunday, Sept. 8 at 4:25 p.m.
Rookie Quarterback and No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels will be making his NFL debut against the Baker Mayfield-led Bucs on Sunday, according to the Associated Press. Daniels won the 2023 Heisman Trophy while at Louisiana State University and is reportedly Washington's eighth different season-opening QB in as many years.
Meanwhile, Bucs QB Baker Mayfield is coming off a career-best 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2023, according to AP. The team paid him back with a three-year, $100 million contract.
