The One Buc: William Gholston

Now in his 12th season, Gholston has played in more games than any other defensive linemen in Buccaneers history.

TAMPA, Fla. — The 10 Tampa Bay team goes one-on-one with a Buccaneers player every week. In this week's edition of "The One Buc," sports reporter David Schiele speaks with veteran defensive lineman William Gholston.

After re-signing with the Bucs on a one-year deal this spring, Gholston solidified the title of the longest-tenured defensive lineman in franchise history. Last weekend's season opener against the Commanders was his 170th regular season game with Tampa Bay.

Considering himself a loyal person, he's prioritized staying with the franchise that selected him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.

"I consider the fanbase family. I consider everybody in the locker room family...if you have the Buccaneer on the front of your jersey, I consider you family," he said.

Gholston is mostly used rotational piece on defense. He has not started double-digit games since the 2021 season but is regarded as one of the team leaders.

"He’s going to go out there and give us everything he’s got, and he still can play," General Manager Jason Licht said.

In this week's installment of "The One Buc," Gholtson talks candidly about preparing for an NFL season as a veteran player, coaching youth football and why having fun is one of his priorities this season.

You can watch "The One Buc" every Thursday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 11 p.m. on 10 Tampa Bay. You can also watch 10 Tampa Bay's weekly Buccaneers preview show, The Blitz, at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's. You can also view the episode on 10 Tampa Bay+ and our YouTube Page on Saturdays.
