The One Buc: Kameron Johnson

The rookie made history when he secured his spot on Tampa Bay's 53-man roster.

TAMPA, Fla. — The 10 Tampa Bay team goes one-on-one with a Buccaneers player every week. In this week's edition of "The One Buc," sports reporter David Schiele speaks with wide receiver Kameron Johnson.

The rookie made history when he secured his spot on Tampa Bay's 53-man roster. He is the first player from Barton College, a Division II program, to make an NFL team.

At Barton, Johnson set records for all-time receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches. He signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent in the spring and impressed the coaching staff and front office personnel with his athleticism.

"He really earned it. All through OTAs and then training camp," general manager Jason Licht said. "You would think that he came from a very high-level program the way he approaches things and the knowledge that he has already. "

"He was quick in and out of his cuts, in and out of his routes and he has great hands," head coach Todd Bowles said.

Due to injury, Johnson could only play in the preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins. He totaled 25 yards on five touches.

He'll have his next opportunity to take the field on Sept. 8 when the Bucs host the Washington Commanders to begin the regular season.

"The One Buc" will air at 5 p.m. Thursday and 11 p.m. Saturday. The segment will also be posted on 10 Tampa Bay's YouTube channel.

"The Blitz," a Buccaneers weekly preview show will make its return on Sept. 1. Those episodes will air on 10 Tampa Bay+ every Saturday as well as our 10 Tampa Bay YouTube channel.
