TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers inducted former head coach Jon Gruden into the club’s Ring of Honor on Monday night.
Dozens of former Bucs players took part in the halftime ceremony at Raymond James Stadium, including Warren Sapp and Warrick Dunn.
“The thing I love about football the most is it’s the ultimate team game,” Gruden said. “This is the greatest individual honor I’ve ever had in my life.”
Gruden, 54, joins John McKay as the second coach in team history to receive the honor.
“I’d like to thank the hundreds of thousands of Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans that are out there and here tonight,” Gruden said. “I love all of you.”
Gruden became the 11th member of the Bucs’ Ring of Honor. He coached the team from 2002-2008. He also lead the Bucs to the franchise’s only Super Bowl title in 2002.
The Bucs lost to the Atlanta Falcons 24-21 on Monday night.
