SAN ANTONIO — Only a minute into Saturday night's game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves, a bat flew onto the court, forcing the Coyote to put on the cape and cowl to save the day.
Just after Victor Wembanyama had hit a three-pointer, fans saw him making a face: not to showboat, but because he was looking at a bat that had just flown down to court level to get a better view of the game.
The Timberwolves had their backs to the bat as they continued to play offense before the officials stopped the game.
That's when the chase began.
The Coyote raced out onto the court in his Batman cape and cowl and chased the bat with a giant net as the Batman theme song played throughout the arena.
After a few failed diving attempts to corral the bat, the Frost Bank Center crowd erupted with cheers from fans, players and oh yeah, the BatMANU himself, Manu Ginobili, as the Coyote finally snagged his target.
This wasn't the Spurs' first run-in with a bat trying to get the best seat in the house. Back in 2009, Manu Ginobili swatted down a live bat out of mid-air during a Halloween matchup against the Sacramento Kings.
The announcers can even be heard saying: "Come on Manu, come on down! Let's figure this out!"
The camera cut to Manu, but it was obvious that he was happy to be in the stands and let the Coyote take on this bat on his own.
