Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- A website that says they're a "daily source for the groundbreaking and good-looking, the luxurious, ludicrous, and downright awesome," has ranked the standard license plates of all 50 states, and South Carolina was the best.
Its Ranking of All 50 United States License Plates, assembled by writer Ethan Wolff-Mann, pored over plates from every state, giving Maryland some guff over its last-place earning simple black-and-white plates and Nevada's 25th rank saying they have "a little too much going on."
S.C.'s plates got praise for the classic Palmetto moon orange sunrise design, created by Mt. Pleasant's Matthew Kamann in a 2007 design contest.
Florida, which came in at No. 28, got kudos for how the oranges aren't relegated to the background, but the editors said they were never more uninterested in visiting MyFlorida.com.
