JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (FirstCoastNews) -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for whomever tried to get away with a bank's ATM using a stolen forklift.
According to police reports, a 10,000-pound, industrial forklift was taken from a construction site at 1022 Prudential Drive sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning.
The $135,000 piece of equipment was rented to Superior Construction Co. from United Rentals in the 5400 block of Phillips Highway, according to reports.
But around 7 a.m. Monday, an officer with the JSO stated he was flagged down by an employee at Synovus Bank in the 1300 block of Prudential Drive in reference to a theft attempt.
The officer received information that someone had severely damaged its drive-thru ATM. The forklift was also recovered at the scene facing the ATM, but had not sustained any damage.
No suspect information has been made available.
An officer on scene was seen dusting a large truck for fingerprints. The ATM was later wrapped with police tape, but remained in its same location.
The bank told First Coast News the suspect(s) did not get away with any cash.
