INDIANA (CNN/WEHT) - Joelle Lockwood has been missing for nearly two months. She was finally freed by good Samaritan, Ronald Higgs after he says found her locked inside a cage at his ex-wife's home.

Wearing only a t-shirt and a dog collar around her neck with a rope tied to it, Higgs says his ex-wife Kendra Tooley and her husband Ricky House kept the mother of two as a slave, CNN affiliate WEHT reports.

Higgs returned to the trailer home Friday night when Joelle made her plea for freedom. "She says please don't leave here without me. I said what's the matter? She says I've been here for over 60 days and they put me in that cage," Higgs said.

Higgs says he tried to buy Joelle's freedom but couldn't make a deal. He then realized the only way she would be free is by force.

He says he tried to take Joelle out of the home but was stopped by Ricky and his shot gun. "He stuck that shotgun right here under my chin with his finger on the trigger. He said I'm going to kill you," Higgs said.

The two men then fought. Higgs was then able to allow Joelle to escape. Cops were then called and Joelle was treated at a local hospital.

The couple will be formally charged with rape and criminal confinement Monday, police said.
