Louisville girl dragged more than 100 feet by school bus

The mother of a Louisville girl who was dragged more than 100 hundred feet by a school bus says her daughter is out of the hospital.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A little girl continues to recover after being dragged by a school bus Friday.

Wilkerson Elementary first grade student Ally Rednour, 7, was released from the hospital Sunday, May 17.

Ehman's backpack got caught in a Jefferson County Public School bus door and she was dragged 100 feet before the driver was flagged down by nearby witnesses.

Rednour suffered severe road burn and is expected to make a recovery.

In a Facebook post, Ally's mother Amy said in part: "I just wanted to say thank u for all the support & concerns & prayers but please keep them coming as it is going to be a long road for her & myself!"

Her mother also added her gratitude for the driver who managed to stop the bus. She says her daughter is in great spirits and smiling.

Jefferson County Public Schools is currently investigating the incident.

JCPS released the following statement:

"We are very grateful that our student is on the road to full recovery, and we are deeply disturbed by this incident. Immediately after the accident, we began an investigation into how and why this happened. This investigation is currently ongoing, and we will be working with all of our bus drivers to review the policies designed to ensure the safety and security of our students, which is our number one priority at all times."

JCPS said the driver is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
