Rockwood, Tenn. (WBIR) -- A cockatoo rescued from a meth house in Tennessee made world headlines last September. Lollibaby, the white female bird, lost most of her feathers in her former home.
Six months have passed and Lollibaby remains in the care of a Roane County pet store. One Stop Pet Shop in downtown Rockwood rescued and has custody of the cockatoo.
Lollibaby has grown new feathers on her back and can fully open her wings. She has also become a great dancer.
The story first published on Lollibaby by our sister station WBIR reached far and wide.
"This is the sock buddy. There's a lady in Boston that makes them. She takes donations for Lollibaby. She sends them to us because she has to stay warm. She has to keep a core temperature of 102 to 104 degrees at all times," said Charles McPherson of One Stop Pet Shop.
Lollibaby still has a lot of missing feathers on her chest. Eventually, the pet shop believes she may grow those back.
One Stop Pet Shop is working to raise awareness of the impact meth has on animals. The store is also selling $19.99 Lollibaby t-shirts to raise funds for the cockatoos care.
