WESTWOOD, N.J. – A clown had nothing to smile about after performing at a day camp in northern New Jersey.

The woman's car crashed into a utility pole in Westwood Monday.

Her fellow clowns came to her aid.

Jack "Poppi T Clown" Erbstein tells The Record newspaper the driver was reaching for a GPS device that fell off the windshield when she veered off the road and hit the pole.

About 10 clowns had performed and were leaving the camp in their individual cars when the accident occurred.

Police Chief Frank Regino says the 68-year-old sustained minor injuries. Her name was not released.

The clowns are members of Call Us Clowns, a not-for-profit organization that performs clown shows at schools and hospitals.
